APG Freight Announced as Award Finalist
For the team at APG Freight, each day tends to be much like ‘business as usual’, although every day is so different as we never know what will come in on the day in terms of jobs or urgent and sensitive cargo, nor whether it has to be handled, labelled or it requires careful re-packaging in line with IATA and international freight standards before being sent on to its destination. But one thing is clear, we are good at it and do our utmost best with everything we do.
That is why it came as a surprise to everyone here at APG Freight when, on the back of being anonymously nominated for the Australian Small Business Champion Awards, we received a large, thick envelope addressed to us – with no clue as to who may have sent it.
Everything was revealed the moment it was opened…
Out popped a folder featuring the certificate that APG Freight was announced as a ‘Finalist’ in the Transport & Logistics category of the prestigious business awards.
Once the moment of shock had subsided and the whole team had been informed, a Mexican wave of ‘high-fives’ ran through the warehouse and office. Mind you we are not people who tote on ourselves or beat our own chests about how great we are. If anything, we ought to have received recognition in humbleness, after all, we have been experts in global shipping for over 30 years, boast over 70 years of combined global freight industry experience across our leadership team, and are often sought out by other freight companies, manufacturers and retailers alike to solve their shipping problems, but we never make any fuzz about that.
Yet, here, in receiving this recognition, we were speechless. Someone, one of our clients, peers or suppliers must have been smitten by what we do so much to nominate us, and the judges at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards must have been impressed enough to short-list us as a Finalist. That in itself was a pat on the back we had never even expected.
Ok, it did feel rather nice, so thank you, thank you, thank you, to whoever did it, you know who you are.
Once the euphoria and excitement had washed through us, we got on with what we do every day of the week, sometimes into the evening when things are urgent and even on weekends. So, back to business as usual it was, handling sensitive goods and general cargo – anything from a single package destined for the Philippines, to a massive life raft for an airline in PNG; an aircraft part to get a helicopter off the ground in Tassie, to a pallet of medical equipment to make their way to the USA, and everything in between.
We are proud of what we do, ok, maybe a tad more proud now as we have a brand new certificate gracing our office wall. But,…
“Back to work, now!”
